High-rating Residential or Commercial EPCs (Energy Performance Certificates) could play a big role in making properties more attractive to prospective buyers or tenants, it has been suggested.

One leading property expert has said that landlords and owners may be able to improve the saleability of their buildings by putting certain things - such as energy efficiency, EPC assessment and inclusion on the Gas Safe Register - at the top of their agenda.

Malcolm Harrison, who specialises in the rented sector, added that landlords must do as much as possible to reduce energy waste in their properties or risk losing the attention of a new generation of home buyers and tenants who are more concerned with EPC ratings than ever before.

Make savings with Commercial EPCs

One way in which landlords could save money and make properties more attractive is by following the advisory report that comes with every EPC assessment.

A Commercial EPC comes with a list of guidelines that outline ways in which the energy efficiency - and EPC rating - of a property can be improved. By following the suggestions in this report, landlords can earn themselves a better EPC evaluation, which in turn could save them money and help shift older properties.

Commercial EPCs are now part of law for landlords, who must obtain and make available the appropriate energy performance certificates to prospective buyers or tenants when any property is offered for sale or rent.

Enlighten Enviro is dedicated to improving energy efficiency and can provide Commercial EPC and DEC assessment on a nationwide basis. Enquire today for a free quotation.

Enlighten Enviro welcomes new recruit http://www.enlightenenviro.co.uk/news/enlighten_enviro_welcomes_new_recruit.html#epco" Commercial EPC specialist Enlighten Enviro is delighted to announce the appointment of Daryl Hosker, who has joined the company as a sales and marketing trainee.

In June, our sister company Miller Metcalfe - a patron and long time supporter of the Bolton Lads and Girls Club (BLGC) - approached the organisation with a view to finding a new member of staff for their sales and marketing team. This was the first time in its long history that a corporate supporter had approached the club in this way.

The approach came in conjunction with a new project started by the BLGC called Pathways 2 Success, which aims to put young people into further education, training or employment, so the timing could not have been better.

Miller Metcalfe was looking for a young person with good IT skills and an enthusiastic, outgoing personality to help promote their brand throughout the town.

The Pathways team went about promoting the role in evening youth club sessions. Young people were asked to fill in application forms, and then take part in mock interviews at the club to select candidates who would be sent to Miller Metcalfe for an official interview.

The company was extremely pleased with the quality of the interviewees but especially impressed with Daryl Hosker.

Daryl, 18, has been a member of BLGC for over 7 years; he also volunteers his time as a BLGC Ambassador and has a part-time job working as a youth worker with some of the club’s younger members during the holiday project.

After two interviews, Miller Metcalfe offered Daryl his first full-time job and he was delighted to accept. He is due to take up his new position in late August. ]]>
Commercial EPC success brings change to online property site http://www.enlightenenviro.co.uk/news/commercial_epc_success_brings_change_to_online_property_site.html#epco" Commercial EPC ratings still important to buyers

Concerns that the Conservatives would look to review the system by which residential and commercial EPC ratings are awarded were calmed this week as a leading property website announced it would begin offering its users the ability to order search results by energy efficiency, further underlining the importance of certification to both buyers and landlords.

There had been talk earlier in the summer that David Cameron's party would seek to make changes to the requirements surrounding Home Information Packs were they to come to power at the next general election, a move which looked set to place EPC assessment under scrutiny.

Now, the value and emphasis placed on energy performance certificates by prospective buyers and tenants has been reinforced by one firm of online estate agents, who, from 30 September 2009, will start letting visitors carry out property searches ordered by energy efficiency as well as the more traditional criteria of price, location and number of bedrooms.

The move is seen as yet another important marker indicating improving general awareness of energy efficiency and EPC ratings among the wider public, many of whom are increasingly concerned with saving money in the current economic climate.

Last month, we told how high-rating energy performance certificates can improve the saleability of properties in a market taken over by green power and environmentally friendly projects. This latest development seems to confirm that not only are owners paying more attention to EPC assessment but so too are buyers - which could prove mutually beneficial.]]>
