EPC Blackpool – at the heart of Fylde regeneration

Commercial EPC Blackpool specialist Enlighten Enviro recognises that this coastal resort is a hotbed of regeneration. The big-money reconstruction of the area around South Shore is a good example of how Blackpool is looking towards the future by investing in modern shopping facilities. Thanks to £1 million of public investment, Waterloo Road has been transformed into a vibrant retail district. And the proposed Storm City and Talbot Gateway projects confirm the belief of many commercial EPC Blackpool experts that the future looks bright for this historic seaside town.

Developers sometimes forget that shopping facilities like those on Waterloo Road now require a commercial EPC following a recent change in the law. Since October 1st 2008, it has been illegal for landlords or owners to sell or rent a commercial property without first obtaining an EPC. Commercial EPC experts such as Enlighten Enviro will tell you that these documents are required whether your property portfolio encompasses Fleetwood and Garstand or Cleveleys and Thornton.

How do EPC ratings work?

The law states that landlords or owners must hire a trained assessor to visit their properties and compile an energy efficiency rating. This is a grade between A and G, where A represents extremely efficient and G denotes very inefficient.

The commercial EPC report also comes with a list of recommendations. This document outlines changes that could be made to reduce the property's overall carbon emissions such as adding more insulation, upgrading the central heating system and switching to energy-efficient lighting solutions. A notional energy efficiency grade will also be provided, signifying what rating could be achieved if every suggestion in the recommendations report is acted upon.

Commercial EPC assessment – a worthwhile investment

Commercial EPC surveys are a legal obligation in Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lytham and elsewhere. They could also save you thousands of pounds in the long term. Simply by carrying out the changes in the recommendations report, your energy bills could be slashed and you may discover that properties become more attractive to prospective buyers and tenants.
